The last weekend, from June 5th to 7th, the small town Sierre in Valais was the Swiss capital of Hacking Health. Great start with Sebastien Mabillard, who gave us an emotional speak, mixing French and English. 8 challenges have found hackers to work on it.

And the winner is…

The virtual mouse, a solution that helps person with limited mobility to control their computer. Kenneth Funes from the research institute IDIAP has work on eye tracking to improve the existing head tracking solution. Eye tracking allows a fine control, and the issue of clicking and double clicking is solved. A great work initiated by the Swiss French Rehabilitation Clinic.

Our favorite…

Thomas Amberg from the Zurich startup Yaler.net was able to realize in a few hours a low cost solution for the detection of alternate walk by patients using crushes. This challenge also came from Swiss French Rehabilitation Clinic. The solution proposed was made of 2 small captors and costs only 20 CHF. So smart!

The challenge we were working on…

A serious game for children between 4-6 years affected with cystic fibrosis to encourage them to do their daily respiratory exercises. A nice way that helps children learn the right way to make the exercises. The challenge’s issue was to find a way to encourage the child, knowing that even if he do well, complications will occur.
